Parental Involvement

Parental Involvement:

Act 397 – To increase parental involvement in Arkansas Public Schools and to enhance life long learners.

A) Acknowledge that parents play an integral role in achieving student learning

B) To help parents and assist students, the school shall:

(1) Schedule regular parent involvement meetings at which parents are given

a report on the state of the school and an 

Overview of….

a) What students will be learning

b) How students will be assessed

c) What parents should expect for their child’s education and

d) How parents can assist and make a difference in his or her child’s

education

C) Provide instruction to a parent on how to incorporate developmentally

appropriate learning activities in the home

Environment which would include the following:

a) Role play and demonstration by trained volunteers

b) Assistance with nutritional meal planning and preparation

c) At home parental instruction approved by ADE

Washington Academy Charter School Parent Center will be available to parents at all times. Parents will have the opportunity to come to the Parent Center and assess their child’s progress, view educational materials in reading, math, and language arts. The Parent Center will also present workshops to inform parents and for parents to voice their concerns.
